Packing for Chianti
-
The weather is mild in Chianti in late October. The daytime temperatures range from 63 to 72 degrees and sometimes warmer in the sun - perfect tennis weather! The evenings tend to be cooler and temperatures can get as low as 52 degrees, so think Fall in DC/VA/MD. Rain is possible, so bring a light raincoat.

Please pack ONE checked suitcase for this trip so that we can accommodate luggage and passengers on our chauffeured coach
Daytime:
We will be playing tennis in the mornings and it may be cool, so I would pack outdoor Fall tennis attire. We will be playing on clay and grass courts, so bring your tennis shoes with those surfaces in mind. After tennis, we will shower and change for the rest of the day’s itinerary. Please review the daily itinerary to get an idea of our activities. As you can see, some days lunch will be al fresco (outside) so keep that in mind. I recommend packing:
For tennis:
Tennis skirts, tops, and dresses
Leggings / sweat pants, at least for warm-up
Long-sleeved tennis tops or sweat shirt, at least for warm-up
Tennis shoes & tennis socks
Hat or Visor
Tennis racket
For sightseeing:
Clothing items for layering, like short-sleeved and long-sleeved tees, sweaters, vests, and light jackets
Jeans / light-weight long pants / Capri pants
Long skirts (if you prefer)
Comfortable Walking Shoes
Bathing suit for sauna / pool not heated
Evening:
Dinners will be relaxed and casual, except our last night’s dinner at Castello Del Nero, which will be dressy. Remember, temperatures can drop quite a bit in the evening. I recommend packing:
Jeans / long pants
Sweaters
A medium-weight jacket, like a leather jacket
A fun scarf
Short boots or flats
Dressy pants or a long skirt, or a dress for our last night.

Hairdryers will be provided in each villa bathroom. However, if you want to bring a hair tool it will need to be dual voltage with a European plug. I recommend this one.
If your personal items are in your carry-on luggage, they need to be in 3.4oz/100ml containers inside a 1-quart size clear bag. Exemptions include liquid medications. Read here for more details.
Remember to bring enough prescription medications and/or vitamins to last for the entirety of your trip. I like this color-coded pill box.
Pack ear plugs, an eye mask, and a neck pillow in your carry-on for the plane. I also recommend a cozy pair of socks if you aren’t wearing any already to keep your feet warm and comfortable.
Melatonin or Good Day sleep chocolates can be helpful for sleeping on the plane and after arrival.
Jet Zone can help mitigate the effects of jet lag.
Good Day energy chocolates and peppermint essential oil can help you stay awake after you land.
