From Cotswolds Villages to the Cornish Coast

Join The Next Chapter Travel for an extraordinary 10-day journey through England, where honey-coloured villages built of local stone meet the wild Atlantic coast. From afternoon tea at Highclere Castle to a tidal island castle rising out of the Cornish sea, this all-women small-group trip pairs the country's most celebrated landscapes with its finest pleasures — Michelin-starred dining, historic gardens, and three of the great hotels of England. Known for its market towns, culinary revival, and dramatic coastline, England in early autumn provides the perfect backdrop for an unhurried journey through its most beautiful corners.

When you travel with The Next Chapter Travel, every detail is carefully curated to ensure a truly indulgent blend of luxury, culture, and adventure. Whether you're arranging flowers cut from a two-acre kitchen garden, crossing a causeway on the tide's terms, drifting down the Thames on a restored vintage launch, or wandering a Cotswold village with nowhere in particular to be, each day brings new encounters with England's most treasured experiences. With thoughtfully balanced moments of discovery and leisure, this journey from Cotswolds villages to the Cornish coast is crafted to inspire, restore, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Your curated trip…

Highlights

  • Enjoy afternoon tea and pastries at Highclere Castle — the real Downton Abbey, home to the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon, set in a thousand acres of Hampshire parkland

  • Settle in for four nights at Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, where a two-acre kitchen garden — ninety varieties of vegetables, seventy herbs, and a heritage orchard — supplies an extraordinary restaurant that has held two Michelin stars for more than forty years

  • Spend a morning in Le Manoir's celebrated gardens with the team who tend them — the potager, the herb beds, the heritage orchard — followed by a flower-arranging session using flowers and foliage you collected

  • Cook alongside professional chefs in a private class at Le Manoir's Cookery School, working with seasonal English ingredients, then sit down to the dinner you've helped prepare

  • Wander the charming villages of the Cotswolds at their most picturesque in early autumn: Broadway's honey-stone High Street, the mill streams of Upper and Lower Slaughter, and the market square at Stow-on-the-Wold

  • Tour the magnificent State Rooms and parkland of Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Winston Churchill and the only non-royal country house in England to hold the title of palace

  • An optional shopping excursion to Bicester Village, renowned for its exceptional collection of luxury designer boutiques and exclusive finds

  • Base yourself for three nights at The Headland, standing above Fistral Beach with the Atlantic on three sides — family-run since 1979, with a Cornish sea salt steam room and the £10 million Aqua Club

  • Walk the footbridge to the legendary Tintagel Castle, the thirteenth-century ruin on a headland above the Atlantic, forever linked to the King Arthur legend

  • Dine at Ugly Butterfly, Adam Handling's Michelin-starred restaurant, where the menu is built almost entirely from the Cornish coast and countryside

  • Cross to St Michael's Mount at Marazion, where a medieval church and castle rise dramatically out of the sea — on foot across the causeway at low tide, by boat at high — held by the St Aubyn family since 1650

  • Browse the boutiques and galleries of St Ives, the harbour town that's drawn painters for a century — Barbara Hepworth's studio and sculpture garden remain just as she left them

  • Stay two nights at Cliveden House — run for decades by Nancy Astor, the first woman to take her seat in the House of Commons — and take a private trip down the Thames aboard one of the estate's restored vintage launches

  • Unwind at spas built around their settings: The Headland's Cornish sea salt steam room and Aqua Club with pools facing the Atlantic, and Cliveden's Pavilion Spa, set around a magnificent outdoor pool inside the walled garden

And while these highlights promise to be memorable, we've also reserved a few special moments that will unfold along the way, making your English adventure truly unforgettable...

Luxury Accommodations

Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, A Belmond Hotel – Days 1–4

Raymond Blanc opened Le Manoir in 1984 in a fifteenth-century manor house in the Oxfordshire village of Great Milton, and it has been one of the finest culinary destinations in Britain ever since. Every room is different, and a two-acre kitchen garden — ninety varieties of vegetables, seventy herbs, and a heritage orchard — feeds a restaurant that has held two Michelin stars every year since it opened. Lavender, sixteenth-century ponds, and croquet on the lawn when the weather cooperates. The property is currently undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation and we will be some of the first guests to enjoy it.

The Headland, Newquay – Days 5–7

The Headland has stood above Fistral Beach for more than 125 years, the Atlantic on three sides, owned and run by the Armstrong family since 1979. The spa draws on its setting — a Cornish sea salt steam room, sauna, hot tubs, and treatment rooms looking straight out to sea — alongside the £10 million Aqua Club, with pools indoors and out. Two exceptional restaurants sit within the hotel: Michelin-starred Ugly Butterfly, and RenMor, the hotel's own dining room.

Cliveden House – Days 8–9

Cliveden sits on the chalk cliffs above the Thames, a Grade I listed stately home run as a five-star hotel within 376 acres of National Trust gardens and woodland — one of the few places in England where you can stay inside a National Trust property rather than tour it. It was home to the Astor family, and to Nancy Astor, the first woman to take her seat in the House of Commons. The property includes The Pavilion Spa, a formal garden laid out in 1723, woodland paths down to the river, and a flotilla of restored vintage launches.

Transportation:

A luxury touring coach with reclining seats, generous legroom, and panoramic windows — designed to make the miles as enjoyable as the destinations. As you move between the honey-coloured villages of the Cotswolds and the dramatic Cornish coastline, the drive becomes part of the trip. A professional English-speaking driver throughout.
