We ate out a couple of evenings in Provence — but I think everyone on the trip would agree that the meals we treasured most were the ones we had at home in the villa. With our chef Nana in charge of the kitchen, every evening was a multi-course surprise. The table was set with purple artichoke flowers. We'd sit down in daylight and not get up until it was dark.
Being fed like that, night after night, feels deeply nourishing. Most of us spend our lives feeding other people — cooking for family, dropping a meal at a friend's door. Receiving that kind of care yourself can feel almost unnatural at first. I've come to think it's a skill we need to practice more.
