Beyond Sightseeing: Portugal’s Living Art

One of the things we prioritize when planning our trips? Creating moments where you're not just observing a culture—you're a part of it.

Our Coastlines & Castles in Southern Portugal trip includes a hands-on tile workshop in Azeitão, where you'll try your hand at painting azulejos, Portugal's iconic ceramic tiles. You'll watch artisans work using centuries-old techniques, then create your own tile to take home—a one-of-a-kind piece you made yourself.

These tiles are woven into Portuguese identity. They grace everything from 15th-century church walls to modern Lisbon metro stations, telling stories through color and pattern. Some date back 500 years, yet artisans still craft them by hand.

It's the kind of authentic experience that makes travel meaningful—learning a craft that connects you to the place, not just passing through it.
